I was contracted to design a series of tournament jerseys for the Seattle‑area regional qualifier of the Adidas Tango soccer tournament series. The goal was to create designs that honored the heritage of the Pacific Northwest while maintaining a contemporary, updated approach to Adidas’ shield‑style logo language.
The project began with an exploration of regional identity—looking at local symbols, forms, and visual history—to inform a design direction that felt rooted in place without relying on literal or nostalgic references. These influences were translated into a set of graphic marks and shield concepts that balanced tradition with a clean, modern sensibility aligned with the Tango brand.
I focused on refining logo geometry, proportion, and visual weight so the designs would read clearly at a distance while still holding detail up close. Throughout the process, emphasis was placed on creating marks that felt timeless rather than trend‑driven, ensuring the jerseys could function both as competitive uniforms and as lasting artifacts of the tournament experience.
Tournament Jersey & Shield Variations
Regional qualifier jersey designs for the Adidas Tango tournament series
The final jersey designs present a cohesive visual system that reflects both the competitive spirit of the Tango tournament and the regional character of the Seattle soccer community. By pairing heritage‑inspired references with a restrained, contemporary graphic approach, the designs feel familiar without being derivative.
This project reflects my approach to brand and graphic design: understanding context, respecting history, and distilling complex influences into clear, confident visual systems that can perform in real‑world environments—on the field and beyond.
